Bill Cataldo is our middle school principal, overseeing Grades 6-7 here at Cedar Springs Public Schools.

Mr. Cataldo has been in education for seventeen years. He started his career serving in Chicago Public Schools (for seven years) before coming to Cedar Springs Public Schools, where he proudly serves our learning community.

When not on campus, Mr. Cataldo enjoys spending time with his family, being active, and the outdoors.

He is looking forward to working together with students, parents, and our community. Go Red Hawks!

After teaching 6th grade for six years, Mrs. MacDonald transitioned into the assistant principal role for our Middle Level schools in 2022. This year, she is transitioning into our principal for our 8th grade students at Red Hawk Intermediate.

Mrs. MacDonald has a passion for education and teaching students. She also is the current director of the summer programing for our K-5 students, where she coordinates summer school programs and free learning programs available to students in the summer.

Outside of education, she enjoys spending time with her family (husband, three children, and two gigantic dogs)! She also likes exploring antique stores, trying a new coffee, and gardening.

She is looking forward to getting to know all the new and current students in the 8th grade at Cedar Springs Public Schools!

Shelly and her husband, Aaron, live in Cedar Springs with their four daughters.

Throughout her 17 years at CSPS, she has taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. She also was the instructional support coach and interim Dean of Students at the middle school. Shelly attended GVSU for her undergraduate degree and earned a master's degree in The Art of Teaching and Educational Leadership.

In her spare time, Shelly enjoys anything with her family, sports, camping, horses, and hunting. Her favorite aspect of being an educator is the chance to help students make sense of what they're learning and to figure out how it fits within the world around them. She also enjoys a good joke, a laugh, and the chance to enjoy the life and energy that middle school students bring!

Mrs. A is ready to chase greatness with each of you! Here's to it!
